Spring in the kitchen: 7 tips to decorate your table
The arrival of spring means warmer days, trees full of green leaves and flowers in bloom. When the warm season comes, you feel the need to freshen up your kitchen, especially when spring festivities are coming.
How can you surprise your family and friends with a beautiful decorated table?
1. Choose delicate, pastel colors: if you already have a colorful dish set or glass set, couple them with a white tablecloth (or a white paper doily lace). This way, your dish set will be the highlight of your table. Alternatively, you can buy colorful napkins that you can fold in a creative and original way. We recommend you pastel pink, baby blue, yellow and ivory for your color scheme.
2. Country style makes for an original table: choose a checkered tablecloth, recyclable tin boxes and transparent glass vases. Country style is ideal for informal meals with friends, and it’s a good alternative to the classic decorations.
3. Use creative place cards: even though your table may be decorated with a very simple style, you can unleash your creativity with place cards. You can use fresh flowers inserted in the napkins, or you can use aromatic herbs to decorate the place card, where you’ll write the name of you guest.
4. A centerpiece full of flowers: spring is the perfect time to fill your house with the delicate perfume of fresh flowers. Rely on your most trusted florist or, if you live in an area with plenty of nature, you can have a walk and pick a bunch of wild flowers. Some of the best spring flowers are daisies, tulips, freesia, lavender and narcissus.
5. Use colored eggs and bunnies for Easter: you can decorate your Easter table with small colored eggs that you can let your children paint, or with small bunnies to make the atmosphere joyful. This is a nice idea for children, if you want to involve them in the decoration of the table.
6. Cook a light and crisp meal: the main ingredients should be seasonal fruit and veggies, white meat and fish. Some of the seasonal fruits are strawberries, oranges, apricots and cherries. Seasonal veggies are zucchini, radishes, asparagus or spinach. Of course, you can’t forget eggs, the most important food of the period, used in many traditional seasonal dishes.
7. The most important dish, the dessert: in this period, there are many traditional desserts, like the Easter chocolate egg. You can create an egg-shaped chocolate cake, an original and delicious idea, that can be decorated just like an Easter egg, with a soft chocolate dough. For the chocolate cake you can use the UOVO egg-shaped baking mold by Novacart, made in pure microwave cellulose paper, designed for different types of dough. It is resistant to food grease and can withstand freezing and baking up to 220°C. It is recyclable and does not need to be inserted in preformed metal molds.
